m’ama
M’ama was designed to rethink flower packaging by balancing technical performance, circular sustainability, and emotional value. The goal was to transform a standard protective container into an evocative, sensory experience, conceived for the spontaneous gesture of picking a flower for someone far away.
Engineered to protect the delicacy of a freshly picked stem during transit, the packaging acts as a devoted messenger of affection. Once delivered, its life cycle continues: made from biodegradable seed-embedded paper, the recipient simply plants the package into the soil to grow new blooms. M’ama merges precise functional requirements with minimalist aesthetics, turning a temporary protective shield into a poetic, closed-loop experience.
sequence of use
The process unfolds in six simple steps: it begins with purchasing the packaging, followed by picking the flowers. The contents are then personalized by writing a dedication and a label, after which the packaging is securely closed. The product can be conveniently carried by attaching it to a backpack. Finally, the packaging scraps are planted, giving life to new plants and completing the sustainable cycle.

The design process approached the packaging as both an emotional link and an ecological solution for long-distance gifting. Incorporating a personal dedication turns the physical object into an active messenger between giver and recipient. At the same time, the use of plantable seed paper addresses the end-of-life cycle by eliminating waste entirely, allowing the material to regenerate into new flowers once placed in soil.
EXECUTIVE ASPECTS – PRODUCTION
The manufacturing analysis balances technical feasibility with material compostability. Offset printing on A0 plantable paper sheets (Pantone 2330 C) employs non-toxic inks with a rubber hardness below 54 Shore to safeguard seed viability during impression. Following die-cutting and creasing, the assembly is finalized using a 3 mm semi-static cord (Pantone 7406 C) threaded through guide holes, providing a secure, glue-free closure mechanism.
